Interface Manager

As Interface Manager, Umar is responsible for providing leadership and technical support through the project lifecycle and establishing best practice for interface management across the BlueFloat Energy / Renantis Partnership UK portfolio, including an effective and systematic coordination of offshore work packages to ensure their technical consistency and quality and safety aspects are met. Umar is also responsible for engaging with the supply chain and giving technical support to the procurement areas where required.

Prior to joining BlueFloat Energy, Umar held technical interface and construction management related roles for various developers in the offshore wind industry.

Umar started his offshore wind career working for Ocean Winds (formerly EDPR) looking after the various interface and construction management aspects for their UK Projects, such as development of their marine operations base, management and execution of construction services related contracts, and performed various site duties such as client representation and site manager. Umar was also responsible for the technical interface management which consisted of ensuring contractual deliverables are well defined, their limits are correctly understood and scope gaps or overlaps are identified and eliminated.

Later, Umar has further worked within the European and UK markets with Vattenfall and then subsequently with EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (or simply, EnBW), looking after technical interface management of some of their flagship Projects. Umar’s key responsibilities included the management of key interfaces between turbines, foundations, substations, cables, to name a few, on both HVAC and HVDC projects, ensuring these and their associated risks are identified at an early stage and mitigated.

Umar holds an MSc (hons) in Renewable Energy Engineering from Kingston University in London.
