As Director of Wind and Site Assessment, Luis Miguel is responsible for assessing the wind resource and site conditions to guide BlueFloat Energy in selecting the best offshore wind sites in each geography. Luis Miguel supports project development activities by analyzing various environmental and technical constraints, wind and metocean conditions to optimize wind farm layout, fine-tune energy yield assessment and ensure technical feasibility of the design.
Before joining BlueFloat Energy, Luis Miguel worked over 12 years at EDPR and more recently at Ocean Winds (EDPR’s joint venture with Engie), where he was in charge of analyzing hundreds of offshore sites across different continents. As part of his core responsibilities, Luis Miguel led several Energy Assessment Due Diligences for merger and acquisitions and financial close of several projects. Among others, Luis Miguel was involved in major offshore wind projects, such as Moray East (UK), Le Tréport (France), Noirmoutier (France), Mayflower (USA) and floating projects such as Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion (France) and WindFloat Atlantic (Portugal).
Other areas, where Luis Miguel has been deeply involved, include site conditions reports for several offshore projects, which obtained positive certification statements of compliance, and more than 10 offshore wind measurement campaigns mainly based on floating LiDAR technology.
Luis Miguel holds a Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a specialization in automatics (University of Seville) and industrial organization (UNIR). He is also member of the International Electrotechnical Commission.
