As Project Director, Tom will be responsible for overseeing all the project workstreams, ensuring successful project delivery to the prescribed budget and timeline; understanding and validating the project procurement strategy and approving main investments that have to be undertaken during the project lifetime; ensuring that the instructions given by the Board of Directors and the relevant shareholder’s representatives are understood and executed by the Team members;  making strategic project decisions and providing leadership and direction to Project Managers to implement those decisions and in connection with the relevant Project Managers, lead main negotiations that the project will be involved in during its lifetime (such as the Turbine Supply Agreement, discussions with the TSO, potential lenders, etc).

Tom began his career in construction and civil engineering before entering the Offshore Wind sector in 2009 with SSE Renewables and subsequently working for leading developers such as Scottish Power/Iberdrola and most recently as the General Manager (Projects) for Flotation Energy plc.

Tom has worked across the full lifecycle of offshore and onshore renewable energy projects in the UK, US, Japan, Taiwan, Australia and ROI. He has recently been a member of the SOWEC Developer Group and has been an active member of The Crown Estate’s Working Groups, various RUK Working Groups and G+ Offshore Wind Alliance Safety meetings.

Early in Tom’s offshore renewables career, he was instrumental in the initial writing and implementing an “ALARP Design and Safety Case Procedure” on a range of Offshore Renewables Projects, which was a step change within the Renewables industry and brought design risk management more in line with Oil and Gas, COMAH and Nuclear industries.

He is a member of the Chartered Institute of management (MCMI), International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (MIIRSM) and is an alumnus of Glasgow Caledonian University.
