Robert Allan

Senior Legal Counsel

Robert Allan serves as BlueFloat Energy’s Senior Legal Counsel on Partnerships and M&A matters globally. Robert will be leading on corporate partnering transactions, by drafting and negotiating  complex, high value contracts and agreements with international and local strategic partners.

Robert is a projects and M&A lawyer, with nearly 15 years of international experience across the energy and infrastructure sectors, including a depth of experience in offshore wind and other renewables.

Robert works closely with BlueFloat Energy’s General Counsel and Business Development team to structure transactions, manage legal risk and negotiate contractual outcomes as BlueFloat Energy forges new partnerships and executes on its new-market-entry strategies to support the continuing growth of its global footprint.

Prior to joining BlueFloat Energy, Robert was Senior Legal Counsel at Orsted, where he concentrated on a mix of sell-side “farmdowns” (ie equity-stake disposals) of large-scale offshore windfarms and buy-side M&A and new market entries.   Robert’s mandate was global, and included project-work in Asia, northern and western Europe and the Americas.  Robert also has previous in-house experience in the solar and onshore wind sectors and in oil and gas, covering a mix of transactional and regulatory matters.  Having spent his career working on matters in over 20 jurisdictions, Robert has developed strong skills in, and a complete comfort with, managing the challenges and complexities of a multi-jurisdictional portfolio.

Robert trained at Clifford Chance in London (including an M&A client secondment to EADS in Paris).  His private practice experience also includes the Energy and Infrastructure teams at Latham & Watkins and Bracewell LLP.  Robert holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Degree from Queen’s University (Kingston, Canada) and a Masters of Science in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP Law School, London.
