Michael Pinkerton

Country Manager - Taiwan

As Country Manager, Michael is responsible for BlueFloat Energy in Taiwan, leading the development of offshore wind projects from site screening through to Final Investment Decision and beyond. Michael manages site selection, consenting, development planning, and establishes and maintains relationships with strategic partners and key local stakeholders.

Michael Pinkerton has been working in the energy sector for more than 25 years and brings a wide array of technical expertise in the development, design and delivery of utility and renewable energy projects. Prior to joining BlueFloat Energy, Michael was the Director of Engineering for Swancor Renewable Energy (SRE) where he led the engineering and project management teams in the development and design of offshore wind farm projects in Taiwan and Japan, with a particular focus on the upcoming round 3 auctions in Taiwan.

Michael brings a long experience in multiple facets of renewable energy projects, having been involved in onshore wind farms, solar projects and offshore wind farms, where he has led, managed and directed teams through all phases of the project development and delivery lifecycle.

Michael has been living in Asia for the past five years, having worked in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. During his time in Asia Michael worked for Macquarie Group as a Development Director, managing the technical development and project delivery to develop a utility scale solar portfolio in Taiwan and a rooftop solar platform in Hong Kong. After Macquarie Group Michael joined one of its subsidiaries, Blueleaf Energy, where he held the position of Project Delivery Manager, South East Asia.

Michael holds an MBA from Charles Sturt University (CSU), Australia and an Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering from South West Sydney Technical College, Australia.
